Els Antonians l’habitaren fins el 1721, quan es traslladaren al carrer de Vilafranca, que posteriorment adoptaria el nom de carrer de Sant Antoni. Allí hi aixecaren un nou convent amb la seva església. Aquesta darrera, construïda a mitjans del segle XVIII, formà part del convent fins el 1787, quan s’extingí l’orde dels Antoniants. Posteriorment va dependre de l’església de Sant Joan, fins que el 1868 fou convertida en parròquia. <br />L’església de Sant Antoni, d’estil barroc i de planta basilical, amb un creuer cobert amb una cúpula, és la mateixa que aixecaren els Antonians unes dècades abans de la seva extinció. <br /><br />El campanar, de base quadrada, sobri i elegant, s’alça al costat dret de la façana.
